I'm committed to a big table approach to collaborative research.

Anthropologists often do their research in collaboration with the people who happen to be living, working or otherwise engaging in the cultural worlds being studied. But we gather the data, do the analysis, and write-up largely alone.
And for some research questions and settings, this is absolutely the best way
of doing research.
But for other research questions & challenges, I prefer a "big table" approach that involves inviting to the table people from different disciplines, who use different methodologies, and who may have different project goals.
Why I do collaborative mixed methods research:

It's fun!
Enables Collaboration

Increases relevance of findings

Engages future researchers

Explains the "whys" behind numbers

Outcomes aren't pre-determined

Can tackle larger problems
